Legion offers owners of platforms a way to monetise AI usage.
But it also helps the partners who build the code, whether they are agencies that build on behalf of a client or coding platforms that use AI to write code.
Legion allows API calls to list a partner. If they are one of Legion's accredited partners, they receive a small share of the revenue of each call.
Important to note: listing a partner does not increase cost to users or decrease revenue to owners; partner share comes out of Legion's own share.
Why?
Legion supports partners because doing so changes their underlying incentives. At the moment, some partners sell licenses and others sell services.
The first purpose of the partner program is to directly align the objectives of the partners with the objectives of their customers: to drive usage. By giving partners a direct share of each user payment, they are refocussed on improving the product. On top of that, since partner share is permanent, they are also incentivised to continue providing support.
The second purpose is to support the overall mission of Legion: to drive the universality of AI. If, through the partner program, partners receive revenue through AI usage, they are more likely to support AI features in their design choices.
How?
If you are a developer using Legion on behalf of a client and have been accepted as a partner, here is how you can set up with these simple commands from your terminal.
First, log in to Legion:
legion loginThen claim your accredited partner status. This must be done from the Legion account whose verified email was approved for the partner program:
legion partner-claimYou can confirm that your partner account is active and see your attributed apps and earnings:
legion partner-statusNext, create the app for your client. Once your partner claim has succeeded, apps created from your account automatically include your partner attribution. You can enter the client's website address; if no path is provided, Legion will use /callback automatically:
legion create-app --name "Client Site" --redirect-uris "https://client.com"After the app is created, copy the returned client_id and invite the client as the owner for payout access:
legion invite-owner <client_id> --email client@example.comThe client will receive an email with a claim link. They should sign in with the same email address, claim the website, and set up Stripe Connect from their Legion dashboard.
Claimed partners normally do not need to pass a partner slug when creating apps. The --partner flag is only for manual attribution by non-partner developers using an approved partner slug.
Partner Terms & Conditions
These Partner Terms and Conditions govern participation in the Legion partner program. By applying to, joining, or participating in the program, the partner agrees to comply with these terms, as amended by Legion from time to time.
Legion may approve, reject, suspend, restrict, or terminate any partner account, partner designation, partner slug, payout eligibility, or partner relationship at any time, with or without cause, and with or without prior notice, in its sole discretion.
Any owner, developer, platform operator, or other authorised controller of a Legion-integrated property may add, remove, replace, or discontinue any partner attribution associated with that property at any time and at their sole discretion. A partner has no guaranteed right to continued attribution to any Legion property, user, account, application, or revenue stream.
Partners must not engage in unlawful, deceptive, fraudulent, abusive, misleading, infringing, unethical, or otherwise harmful conduct. Without limitation, partners must not misrepresent Legion, misrepresent their accreditation status, manipulate attribution, generate artificial usage, interfere with billing integrity, attempt to obtain unearned revenue share, violate third-party rights, or encourage any activity that could damage Legion, owners, users, or the broader ecosystem.
Legion may investigate suspected misconduct and may withhold, adjust, reverse, offset, or permanently deny any partner payout or accrued share where Legion reasonably believes that usage, attribution, or partner conduct is invalid, non-compliant, abusive, fraudulent, disputed, refunded, reversed, or otherwise inconsistent with these terms or applicable law.
Partner revenue share, if any, is determined solely by Legion pursuant to the applicable program rules in effect at the time of calculation. Legion may modify partner eligibility requirements, accreditation standards, payout procedures, documentation requirements, and commercial terms at any time. No particular volume of usage, minimum revenue, or ongoing economic benefit is guaranteed.
Partners are solely responsible for their own marketing, statements, services, support commitments, taxes, registrations, disclosures, compliance obligations, and relationships with clients, owners, agencies, contractors, and end users. Participation in the partner program does not create any joint venture, fiduciary, employment, agency, franchise, or exclusive relationship between Legion and any partner.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Legion disclaims all warranties relating to the partner program, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. Legion will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of revenue, profits, business, goodwill, data, or expected opportunity arising out of or related to the partner program.
Legion may update these Partner Terms and Conditions from time to time by posting revised terms on this page or by otherwise providing notice. Continued participation in the partner program after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
